Froggy goes to…where?
Last night being my day off, I went for a six mile walk just to see what was new out there. I have finally noticed crocus blooming, hurrah! But so far, that’s it. Still no daffodils or tulips, although the leaves have been emerging.
But last night was amazing not for plants, but for frogs. My ramble took me past a few stormwater retention ponds, and down to Big Soos Creek. Now, I expect frogs at Big Soos Creek–after all, it’s a wetland, right? But the big shock was walking past a few of the retention ponds on a major public road, and being able to hear the frogs OVER the noise of the traffic.
I trained my flashlight on the ponds, and never saw a thing. But there must have been hundreds of frogs, all busy making noise. I’ve never heard that much noise from frogs before.
Now if I could just spot one or two of the little creatures. Tonight I will see if I can find frog spawn…
