Shy  I'm new here...

I'm from the UK, and I enjoy taking photographs of wildlife which I regularly upload to Flickr. As I've just recently started a new site for recording wildlife sightings online (it's a totally free site) I thought I'd look to see what wildlife communities there are out there as I'm sure there must be some conservation minded people that may be interesting in recording their sightings. Over time I'm hoping this will start to show the distribution of different species around the world on the maps that are already present on the site.

Once registering the user has the option of recording their sightings by trip, or adding species to their life list. It's nice and easy to find the species you're looking for using the search and also displays the IUCN Red List status where available.

If it does generate some interest then it will also be adapted for mobile platforms such as iPhone, iPad, Blackberry and Android.

If you are interested in recording your sightings online then the URL is: http://fauna.me - it's still in BETA but this is a good time for people to try it out as any suggestions people may have can get added to the site quickly.
